NLP

The basic ideas behind what came to be known as Neuro Linguistic Programming or NLP were developed in the early 1970s by Richard Bandler a research student, and John Grinder an assistant linguistics Professor. Both were influenced and mentored by the British anthropologist and social scientist Gregory Bateson. Bateson introduced them to Milton Erickson the gifted indirect Hypnotherapist and Medical Doctor. Erickson was noted for his remarkable ‘indirect’ communication skills,’ the study of which became a keystone and early project in the development of NLP.

Neuro refers to brain neurology and thinking processes, Linguistic refers to language and how it affects our thoughts and Programming is a computer metaphor for how the effect of language, thinking processes and beliefs determine our behaviour.

Through developing an understanding of NLP and utilising its techniques we can learn how to duplicate or ‘model’ effective behaviour patterns.

NLP has now become widely used in business, therapy, sports and education to improve management, performance, inter-personal skills, how children/students learn and all aspects of human behaviour. It involves modelling the effective behaviour and language patterns of individuals who demonstrate excellence in a particular field. These observations have been honed into an ever-expanding set of techniques that can be emulated by others.

At school we are not usually taught how to feel good, how to enhance positive feelings, how to rearrange/balance emotions or how we can enhance empowering memories - this is the domain of NLP. Most modern hypnotherapists also learn NLP. Having completed the Hypnotherapy Diploma you will also be able to practise NLP.

EFT

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is very easy to learn for yourself and teach to others. It is particularly effective in transforming negative emotions, reducing food cravings (weight management), alleviating pain, dealing with trauma and positive goal setting.

EFT could be described as a form of psychological accupressure, based on the same energy meridians used by traditional acupuncturists in the treatment of physical and emotional conditions. There are no needles involved and the work can be directed towards specific emotionally based issues. EFT can be a very effective technique for removing phobias and alleviating trauma.

TAT

Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT) was developed in the 1990's by the acupuncturist Tapas Fleming. Initially used to alleviate allergies and sensitivities it was later extended to cover phobia and trauma.

TAT is a very simple method that is used most effectively to work on allergies, emotional issues, trauma, phobias and negative belief systems etc.
